Table Kids

Kids get a sense of belonging and the chance to explore their faith in community. Each week, kids hear they are loved by Jesus.

Sunday mornings

When you arrive:

  • Kids check-in for all ages is located just inside the back of the Sanctuary, where you’ll print name tags. On your first visit, you can fill out a form for future online check-in.

  • The nursery for babies and toddlers is located upstairs (follow the pink floor tape) and is open before worship.

  • Pre-K through 1st grade begin in their group upstairs (follow the green floor tape). We recommend arriving a few minutes early to check in and walk your kids upstairs before service begins.

During the service:

  • Participation in worship matters for faith formation! Kids in 2nd grade and up begin in worship with their families and are dismissed after singing to follow their group leader.

  • PreK-5th graders return to the Sanctuary in time for communion with their families.

  • Each room has a leader assisted by volunteers. Read more about age groups below.

Kids in Worship:

Learning how to participate in the rhythms of worship as a child is crucial to a continued practice of faith as an adult. About once a month, 2nd-5th graders remain in the service so we can worship as one community—we welcome their noises and whispers! Kids are given leadership roles like singing, reading scripture, serving communion, giving the benediction, etc. On these weeks, fidgets and activity bags are available in the back, and the nursery and preK-1st grade groups still meet.

Table Kids Groups

Nursery:

  • Our nursery is available for babies and toddlers still in diapers. The nursery is located upstairs (follow the pink floor tape!) and is open before the service. Zayn and Hannah staff our nursery and they are joined by volunteers to rock babies, play with older ones, and read a Bible story each week.

  • The nursery remains open even on weeks when older kids remain in worship. Nursery is not offered on Christmas Eve or Good Friday so our Kids Team can participate in worship.

Pre-K through 1st Grade:

  • This group begins in their groups and returns to service in time for communion. Check in before service begins and make your way upstairs to drop your child off.

  • Group time is led by our Director of Kids, Caitlin Schmidt, and assisted by volunteers and includes crafts, music, fine- and large-motor play, and Bible stories that pair with the sermon series.

  • Kids programming is not offered on Christmas Eve, Good Friday or Easter Sunday, and the last couple weekends in August. This rhythm allows our Kids Team to participate in worship and prepare for the programming year.

2nd through 5th Grades:

  • This community of older elementary kids—led by Marta Smith, our Pastor of Youth, and volunteers—discusses the same topics as the sermon series in age-appropriate ways.

Middle School (6th-8th):

  • Middle schoolers are invited to remain in worship with their families. In the back of the Sanctuary, you’ll find sheets to help kids process what they hear, plus pens and clipboards.

  • There are middle school gatherings throughout the month at different times/days and locations. Check out our Events page for summer middle school hangouts.

  • We’re always looking for adults in our community who like to hang out with middle schoolers. If you’d like more info, email Marta below:

Volunteer with Table Kids

Intergenerational relationships are crucial for everyone’s faith formation—kids and adults alike. We invite adults and older teens to show up for our kids, sharing their time and faith and introducing our kids to Christ’s beloved community.

All adult volunteers submit to a background check. Volunteer by emailing Caitlin below:
